The Distinctive Dozen
My most popular Substack posts that sparked conversations and challenged perspectives
Maybe it’s the “milestone” birthday I had recently, but I’m in an introspective mood. So I thought I’d check my Substack “stats” to see which posts have resonated most with you, the readers I so appreciate, in this first year in Substack.
Many of you are fairly new subscribers, so I thought it might be fun to highlight the top dozen posts (in terms of traffic) so that you could catch up with any especially spicy articles you might have missed! In some cases these are pieces that also appeared on Blaze Media, where I also publish.
For purposes of this list, I ignored seasonal posts, but it turns out that these have been some of the most popular, so I’ll link those more time-sensitive pieces here first:
No, Easter is not a pagan holiday (and Should your kids see King of Kings?)
How are you celebrating Pentecost (just a couple weeks ago)
Okay now to the distictive dozen. Counting down:
#12
Let’s talk “the science”
The weaponization of what passes for science must be challenged with truth, and we come back to Creation. This one can also be read on Blaze.
#11
How Progressive Christianity and Christian Nationalism both get it very, very wrong
Vice President J.D. Vance sparked a firestorm with one comment, and we show how some Christians (and perhaps so-called Christians) are getting it all wrong.
#10
Forgotten God
The Holy Spirit is misunderstood, but He doesnt need to be.
#9
The best book you must own
In which I share my favorite book, other than God’s book.
#8
How we know that nobody's visited Heaven and come back
Enough with the near-death heaven nonsense.
#7
The tragedy of (Bible) illiteracy
This is the most recent article in the top 12, and every day this becomes more of a problem.
#6
How Hitler came back
Speaking of disturbing trends, this is definitely one of them.
#5
Why you should educate your kids at home
Focusing on the preschool years, this is a complete why-to AND how-to. This article also appeared in edited form in Warkitchen magazine.
#4
Is Roman Catholicism truly Christian?
Whoo boy, this one certainly created generated some controversy, because I make the case for “no” being the answer to the title question.
#3
Stop sacrificing your family on the altar of youth sports
This one was personal. It also appeared on Blaze, and generated an interview on iHeart Radio — because parents know this is a big problem these days.
#2
Learn to discern
I guess it’s not surprising that an article that calls out false or just questionable teaching — and names names — would generate a lot of interest.
#1
Questioning your salvation
Well, I wasn’t surprised by #2 but I was shocked by this one. Written back in the first month of the blog, this has continued to generate readership in numbers considerably higher than anything else on this list. It’s a critical issue, and the type of topic I meant to explore when I started this effort.
So, readers, here’s to another year of She Speaks Truth. I appreciate every single one of you, and thank you!
And if you’re not yet a paid subscriber, I ask that you consider upgrading, to join in support of this blog’s mission to shine biblical truth on any and every topic.
It would also be personally encouraging to me, because those who respond negatively always outnumber those who respond positively.
Anyway, it’s only $5/month, or even less with an annual subscription. Just hit the button below to do so, and for those who have hit the button — I am grateful and humbled.
